Stephen Willis - Senior Pastor
I graduated from Campbell University with a degree in social-science-history, completed courses in the divinity school at Eastern Mennonite University, and completed my ordination requirements through Northwest Nazarene University. I spent three years teaching history and coaching basketball and tennis at Cummings High School in Burlington N.C. I left the public school system in June of 1998 and fulfilled a call to full-time ministry by accepting the youth pastor’s position at Community Fellowship Church of the Nazarene in Waynesboro, Virginia. After three productive years in youth ministry I accepted the senior pastor’s position here at LFCN in the summer of 2001.
I married my beautiful wife, Lisa, in the summer of 1998. Lisa spent five years as a special education teacher in the public school system. Today Lisa spends her days as a stay at home mom taking care of three awesome Willis boys: Nick, Camden and Micah Willis (not to mention me!)
Quote: “I am convinced more than ever that God has called us to knock down the barriers of the religious establishment that prevent us and others from being true followers of Jesus Christ. We seek to walk so closely to Jesus Christ our Rabbi that we are completely covered in the dust of his sandals. We desire to be relevant, authentic, and passionate people who long to become the will of Jesus Christ in hopes of fulfilling the Great Commission.”
Hobbies: Golf, tennis, basketball and softball.
Interesting Fact: I am the youngest of three boys and all three Willis brothers are ordained ministers in the Church of the Nazarene.
Motto: “Love Wins!”
Marc Price - Children's Pastor
Hello, thanks for dropping in. My name is Marc Price. I am originally from Kentucky where I attended Western Kentucky University with plans to become a technical illustrator. I was an Artist/Designer before God called me to full-time ministry. My ministry began in Burlington, N.C. where I was the youth pastor for 7 years. I left Burlington to attend school at Liberty University where I graduated in 2004 with a B.S. in Religion. I am now here at the Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene as the Children's Pastor. I am married to a beautiful North Carolina girl named Teresa and we have two awesome sons, Ryon and Garret.
I have been the Children's Pastor at LFCN since 2001. I love kids. I love to see their faces light-up when they learn something new about God. I love to hear their curious questions. I love that God has given me this privilege/responsibility of loving and teaching them. God is moving in the Children’s Ministry here at LFCN! Come, check us out, but remember this… your children might be begging you to come back week after week. Which is fine with me!
Mike Lyle - Youth Pastor
Hi, I’m Mike Lyle the pastor to our students here at LFCN. Maybe you’re wondering if I’m cool? Maybe you’re just curious about me? Well, allow me to let you into the world of Mike Lyle.
I graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in 2002 with a degree in Mathematics (cool huh?). I accepted the position here at LFCN shortly after graduation. I am married to the lovely Bethany, mother of my two children (Gracyn and Gavin). I enjoy lots of things…but let me tell you just some of them. I love working with students and I love all kinds of music. What kind of music, you ask? I think anything with passion. I am a huge Derek Webb fan and I also enjoy the sounds of Bebo Norman, Coldplay, U2 and various 80’s love ballads.
I hope I meet you soon. Trust me, this bio Mike Lyle is nowhere near as cool as the real Mike Lyle…as I’m sure the internet surfer you is no where near as cool as the real you.
John Lawson - College & Associate Worship Pastor
I am the green rookie
here at LFCN. I am working to build and maintain community within
the collegeand young adult population at LFCN and throughout the
surrounding areas of the city of Lynchburg. In May of 2000, I
graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Blue Ridge Community
College in Weyers Cave, VA. My wife Mandy and I first left
Harrisonburg, VA in 2004 for me to further my education at Nazarene
Bible College and to answer God’s call on our lives to minister. We
stayed in Colorado Springs from July 2004 until June 2007, while I
completed the major portion of my degree focus on music ministry.
I am currently an online student of Nazarene Bible College. Mandy
and I don’t have any human kids yet, but pride ourselves on rescuing
and raising two fabulous pups, Rambo and Rockstar! We
sincerely look forward to growing in Christ and serving Him here at
LFCN.
Russanna Cook - Office Administrator
I was born and raised in Indiana, where there
really isn't much more than corn fields and basketball. As a young
girl I was privileged to be a part of our local Nazarene church and
it was so easy for me to feel a part of this church "family." The
Lord used my church to minister to me in so many ways that as I grew
in my relationship with Him, I knew the Lord was calling me to full
time ministry. In order to pursue this goal, I came to Liberty
University in 2000 and received my Bachelor's Degree in Religion in
2004. During my senior year of college, I met my amazing husband
Brandon at LFCN and we got married in 2005. Since Brandon is a
graduate of Virginia Tech, that makes me a Hokie by marriage.
Because LFCN has been a huge part of our relationship and growth in
the Lord, I am delighted to step into my new role of Office
Administrator and to continue as Nursery Director. It is our prayer
that as we become more involved ith the vision of LFCN that
children and families lives are changed everyday by the power of
Christ.
Jennifer Stephens - Technical Support
staff
I graduated from
Virginia Tech with a degree in Business: Management Science and
Information Technology in 1998. Go Hokies! While at Virginia Tech
I met a really cool guy, Joe Stephens, who would later become my
husband. Following college I pursued a career in the field of
technology as an Application Engineer (Programmer) and, more
recently, a Network Administrator. I married my husband, Joe
Stephens, in August of 1998. We lived in Richmond, VA for 2 years
and then moved back to Lynchburg in 2000 to be close to our
families. Since then we have been blessed with 3 beautiful
children - Dylan, Karley, and Brennan.
I
served as Office Administrator for LFCN from 2006-spring 2007 and
recently made the decision to stay at home with my family. I now
serve as a part-time technical support staff member for the church
by keeping the website up and running and tackling any technology
problems that may arise.
Our
family came to LFCN in January 2005 and found our church home. I am
thrilled to be a part of this church and even more excited to be
able to serve as a staff member. Christ has presented me with such
amazing opportunities here at LFCN and he continues to amaze me each
day with the way that he works in my life.
Shanelle Wilson - Facilities Assistant
Dave Barker, Jr. - Facilities Assistant
I arrived at Lynchburg Nazarene
in 2002 along with my mom and dad. I have been extremely blessed
since my arrival. I have been a member for about 3 years now.
I
loved to fix things, so this job will be fun for me. I love to
play Disc golf too, so now I have more time for that.
I also like using my John Deere Tractor for mowing, racking or
Backhoe.
